Art represents the life experiences of the maker of the art. If the viewer is drawn to it, there is that moment of recognition or connection. The artist then becomes a part of the viewer’s experience.

This is the real value of art. It’s personal.

    I want to expound on that a bit. It is not only personal to the viewer, but to my art specifically. Especially figurative work. I have no work of anyone I do not know personally. I know their quirks, their personalities, their level of comfort with their body. To a woman (and a man), they have some degree of insecurity and self-consciousness. With art, both things fall away.
